DiP-BioCasNavi – AI revolutionizes enzymatic synthesis
In the future, an AI system will be able to plan what previously required time-consuming laboratory work in a matter of seconds: the optimal combination of enzymes for the production of important chemicals. The DiP-BioCasNavi project is developing a digital platform that combines different enzymes into efficient reaction chains like an intelligent construction kit.
At the Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry (IPB) in Halle, a unique cloud platform is being created that combines artificial intelligence with biotechnological know-how. Through machine learning, the system can predict which enzymes are best suited for a desired chemical reaction. What used to require weeks or months of laboratory experiments can now be planned on the computer in the shortest possible time.
A special focus is on practical application: The developed reaction chains are to be used for the sustainable production of important active ingredients such as vanillin. Partners from industry are helping to make the technology usable for specific production processes.
DiP-BioCasNavi thus positions Saxony-Anhalt as an innovation location for digital biotechnology and creates new economic prospects in the region. The combination of artificial intelligence and biotechnology makes the region a pioneer for the sustainable chemical production of the future.
